Kay’s nomination celebrates the incredible work she has done with Caerphilly Castle FC’s Walking Football program. What began two years ago as a simple exhibition match in our club tournament, an idea originally suggested by Beth, quickly grew into a fully-fledged walking football team thanks to Kay’s dedication, leadership, and selfless approach.
With her extensive experience in the women’s walking football scene, including playing and coaching for Wales, Kay has been instrumental in developing the team. Under her guidance, the team has not only competed but thrived, winning tournaments and inspiring participation across all ages and abilities.
Speaking about the program, Kay said, “It’s been going really well. We have a mix of age ranges, with some players well into their sixties. Walking football has been an amazing social opportunity and has truly changed people’s lives.”
Kay’s passion and commitment go beyond the pitch. She is known for her willingness to support players of all levels, whether they are joining for fun or representing Wales at an international level. Her leadership continues to grow the walking football community, making the sport more accessible and inclusive for everyone.
We are proud to see Kay recognised for her dedication, and we wish her the very best as a finalist in this year’s awards.
We are delighted to announce that Jay Collis, one of our valued coaches, has been confirmed as a finalist for the Community Coach of the Year award at the Caerphilly Sport Awards 2025.
Jay’s nomination is a heartfelt thank you from everyone at Caerphilly Castle FC for his unwavering dedication, positivity, and commitment to our players. Over the years, Jay has poured endless time and energy into supporting our teams, always going above and beyond to ensure that every player feels valued and supported—both on and off the pitch.
Even when faced with challenges, such as low numbers in his age group, Jay continued to show up for his players, offering encouragement, guidance, and a steady presence during difficult moments. His compassion and resilience have made a lasting impact on everyone who has worked with him.
Jay’s influence extends beyond football—he embodies the true spirit of community sport. His coaching has not only helped players develop their skills but also their confidence and love for the game.
This nomination stands as our way of saying a huge thank you for his continued dedication to the club and the community. Jay’s passion for grassroots football, his selflessness, and his genuine care for others are what make him such a deserving finalist.
We couldn’t be prouder to see Jay recognised for his hard work and the positive difference he’s made at Caerphilly Castle FC. Congratulations, Jay!
