This past Sunday was an unforgettable experience for some of the young players from Caerphilly Castle FC, as they had the incredible opportunity to serve as mascots for Cardiff Met Women’s football team!
From the moment they arrived at the stadium, the excitement was palpable. The girls were warmly welcomed by Cardiff Met staff and players, making them feel like part of the team from the outset. As mascots, they had the chance to walk out onto the pitch alongside the Cardiff Met Women’s players, sharing the spotlight and soaking in the thrilling atmosphere of a live match.
For these aspiring young footballers, walking hand-in-hand with top players was a dream come true, and it was clear from their beaming smiles that the experience left a lasting impression. Being on the pitch in front of the fans was an inspiring moment, allowing the girls to experience first-hand what it’s like to be part of a high-level football match.
At halftime, the girls had an extra special treat—they got to play some fun mini-matches on the pitch! With the crowd watching on and cheering, the girls showcased their skills, dribbling, passing, and scoring goals in what was an exhilarating experience. Playing at such a venue and getting to show their talents on the big stage was an incredible confidence boost for them, and they took full advantage of the opportunity to shine.
But the excitement didn’t end when the final whistle blew. After the game, the young players were invited to meet some of the Cardiff Met Women’s players up close, getting the chance to chat with them, ask questions, and learn more about what it takes to succeed at the top level of women’s football. The players were more than happy to sign autographs, take photos, and share a few words of advice, leaving the girls starstruck and inspired.
One of the highlights for the girls was getting their football kits and personal items signed by their footballing heroes. Meeting these role models in person helped bring their football dreams even closer to reality, and it was clear that this special day had a lasting impact.
The entire experience was a fantastic opportunity for our young players to see what women’s football at the highest level looks like, while also reinforcing the message that hard work, dedication, and a passion for the game can take them anywhere.
