The teams faced off in two 20-minute games, following Spanish rules: three touches per player, 7-a-side, and played on half of a full-size pitch. With everyone getting a feel for the format, the first game saw plenty of midfield action as both teams worked to adjust to the rules. Despite the challenging weather conditions, everyone battled through, and the first 20 minutes ended in a goalless 0-0 draw.
The second game brought an extra challenge, as players had to contend not only with the elements but also The Albies, who had quickly adapted to the Spanish style of play. An early goal from Kayleigh put our ladies on the back foot. Rhian later pulled off a great save to deny Kate, but with two of our players lost to injury, both teams agreed to drop to 6 players, making the pitch feel even larger.
The Albies took full advantage of the extra space, with Nia scoring a spectacular "top bins" goal to seal the game. Despite the loss, it was a valuable learning experience, and everyone left the pitch in high spirits, knowing they had given their all in tough conditions.
Llongyfarchiadau pawb! Well done to everyone involved as we continue to prepare for the exciting trip to Spain!
