Anthony tested goalkeeper Nia Rich with a penalty effort before hitting the crossbar and missing an opening opportunity to take the lead. Cwmbran soon found their usual rhythm and enjoyed the better periods of possession and chances in the opening exchanges. While Shwartz's side looked in control, they remained frustrated as Caerphilly defended resolutely as the sun beamed down in the capital. This was always going to be a tough ask for Caerphilly, and Cwbran took a deserved lead on 10 minutes when Bound's beat Rich with a fine strike from the edge of the area.
Lane doubled the advantage a minute later as she slotted home a quick goal, Cwmbran took a commanding lead into half-time.
However, there was plenty of drama to come as Williams gave the Caerphilly fans something to cheer on 60 minutes when she crossed the ball onto the volley of Lauren Anderson to score. It initially appeared to be nothing more than a consolation goal, but Caerphilly kept pushing for an equaliser. Caerphilly had multiple scoring opportunites towards the later end of the game by keeping possession and controlling the game.
However, despite Caerphilly's late heroic efforts Cwbran's broke away on a counter attack and Anthony scored a late goal to deny Caerphilly a come-back.
