Bethan has been one of our ladies players at the club for the past 10 years but started as a 10 year old playing for our mini’s section. She decided last summer to start a mini’s section and has since qualified as a ‘C’ Licence coach. From having a regular 15 attending last summer we now have 42 players to date!
From this we currently have an U10’s team entered into the SWWGL playing regular matches on a Sunday and they are going from strength to strength, last Sunday saw them lose one, draw one and win two matches with some great goals from the girls and we wish them the best of luck for continued success this season.
Our U10’s goal keeper Jersie Lewis has been selected for Newport County AFC Academy after only one year of starting at the club, Bethan has said that Jersie has come on leaps and bounds since she started. Every session she works tirelessly to become a better individual and player, always looking out for her team mates she is a kind hearted kid who has a bright future ahead of her in football.
Jersie is definitely one to watch out for in the future! Congratulations Jersie from all of us at the club.
We are so pleased to also welcome on board David Maddocks as U10’s Manager/ Coach and Luke Davies as U10’s GK Coach to help Bethan as head coach.
David is also currently helping us to organise and bring in line lots of procedures with the rapid growth of the minis section behind the scenes which we are very grateful for.
U8’s – We are also pleased to announce that Gareth Harper has volunteered to become a coach for the younger age groups, for now U8’s, U7’s U6’s and U5’s age groups. Ian Butterworth also helped us out coaching this age group over the summer and we hope to see him back very soon.
Within our mini’s section we also have Lowri Head and Jasmine Boucher who help out at training, Jasmine also helps Bethan set up for U10’s matches every week so we are grateful to you both for your continued support.
Caroline Jackson is now the minis Registration Officer and Laura Easterbrook is our Equalities Officer –many thanks to you both.
If anyone has the inclination they think they can help us out in any way you probably can so please do not hesitate to become a bigger part of our cub – we need all the help we can get with increasing numbers.
We are looking to register the following teams with the SWWGL within the next year.
U7, U8, U9 and U11 – We only need a few more players for each team and we will be there.
We are actively looking for coaches/managers for, U8’s, U9’s and U11’s and another coach/manager to help Gareth out with the younger age groups. As a club we can provide any training courses necessary.
Christmas is just around the corner and we need to celebrate! – last Christmas Bethan organised a night at Cardiff Devils Ice Hockey for the players to watch a match on a Saturday evening. The girls and parents loved this event but we are aware that we have younger age groups now and may need to arrange something different for everyone to be able to attend.
We would be grateful for your views on this.
Due to the minis section success in growth, from 1st November as a club we have decided that the training fees will be £10 per calendar month payable by bacs or cash (bacs would be preferable but we understand that some want to pay by cash) rather than weekly payments due to the work involved. With the current cost of living crisis we are also aware that we have parents with siblings attending so if you wish to stagger the two payments over the month this will not be a problem.
Please see the link, should any parent/guardian wish to apply for grants for sport.and also this link to a charity that sponsors sports clubs for various things including club membership.
If you think this could help you out please email us direct at caerphilly.social@hotmail.com so we can apply on your behalf.
We are also currently fundraising for the chance for your daughter to win a Ladies Wales Football Top. We realise most of us don’t carry any cash these days but payments can be made via our club account. Raffle tickets are £2 per strip, we would really appreciate your support on this.
We have a great group of girls and parents on board and we are grateful that you decided to join us and we look forward to being a part of your daughter’s journey in football, because we can give her that stepping stone to have a career within football, whether it be a coach, referee, to name but a few or be that player for Wales!
